Anneline Dreyer
Anneline Dreyer who was employed as a legal advisor by Government where she gained experience in the drafting, updating and interpretation of legislation, prior to joining the SABS.
She was involved with the establishment of the international ISO 14001 standard in South Africa on behalf of the SABS in 1996. She was subsequently appointed as the first environmental legal auditor to the SABS’s certification body for a period of 3 years. She has been in private practice as a legal advisor since 1999.
She has undertaken intensive legal compliance audits within the industry and mining sectors alike including the auditing of environmental authorisations (EA’s), Integrated Water Use Licences, Waste Management Licences as well as performance assessments on approved EMPr’s. She has developed and presented in - house legal courses, as well as drafted numerous legal opinions on the implications and interpretation of Legislation.
Philip Rudolph Dreyer
Philip Dreyer is a practicing attorney who joined the Justice Department in 1987 where he was primarily involved with instituting and defending civil litigation at the instruction of the Minister and Director-general of Justice. Apart from consultations and providing strategic legal advice he gained experience in the drafting of legal documents and legislation, interpretation of statutes as well as research into various fields of the Law.
He left the Department at the end of 1994. Philip was a partner in a Law Firm based in Edenvale until the end of 2005 which specialized in Employment Law including Health and Safety. He became progressively involved in Environmental Law during this period. Since 2005 his focus has shifted towards strategic legal advice in ensuring legal compliance and avoiding potential legal liability across the Environmental and Employment Law fields. The latter includes Health and Safety. He has conducted numerous Legal Compliance Audits at various industries and mines including performance assessments and legal compliance audits on Environmental Management Programmes and Plans, Air - , Water - and Waste Licences as well as on authorisations for specific listed activities, during the last 10 years.
Ruan Dreyer - Environmental Practitioner
Ruan Dreyer has a B.Sc. degree in Environmental and Biological Sciences from the University of the North West (Potchefstroom) and is currently busy with his B.Sc. Honors degree in Environmental Management through the University of South Africa. He has completed an ISO 14001 (Understanding and Implementation) course and the ISO 14001 Lead Auditors course at the SABS, an IRCA accredited ISO 14001:2015 Lead auditors course at BSI, an ISO 9001:2015 requirements course at BSI, a Waste Management course at Interwaste, Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment course at HASLAC, a course in Game Ranch Management and several courses on Environmental Legal compliance, as well as a SAMTRAC course at NOSA.
Ruan has conducted Environmental Audits, Waste Management Licence audits, Water Use Licence audits, Waste Assessments and classifications, Environmental Legal Gap analysis’s, compliance monitoring to Environmental Authorizations (ROD’s) issued in terms of the National Environmental Management Act, EMPr (Mining) Compliance Auditing and developed SHE management procedures, policies, Aspect and Impact Registers at Diamond Mines, Coal Mines, Gold Mines, Platinum Mines, Limestone Mines, Chemical Industry, Computer Manufacturing Industry, Railway Industry, Bearing Manufacturing Industry, Glass Manufacturing Industry, Construction Industry and Clutch Manufacturing Industry.
Ruan also acts as an Environmental technical specialist during Legal Compliance Audits, which are performed together with an Environmental Lawyer / Attorney.
